When I first decided to find a personal trainer, I had three requirements:

1. A person who understood the importance of being “healthy” in terms of my well being and not what they thought I should be.

2. A personal trainer who would not yell at me, but actually teach me how to focus on each challenge. This would not only help me focus in the gym, but would also help be a good influence in my life.

3. Someone with a vast knowledge of the human body and exactly which variations of exercises would work best to accomplish my goal.

I found Ken Constantine by pure luck and he changed the way I looked at the definition of being healthy and fit. Ken was a professional from the moment we had our first conversation. He asked me about what I wanted to accomplish and it wasn’t “what he could do for me,” but how he could assist me in reaching the goals I wanted to set for myself. During our workouts, he explained the technical aspect of the task at hand, how I needed to approach the task, and the reasons why.

Ken has such an understanding of the body and how it works. He helped me through the guilt and fear of the past and pointed me toward my future.  It didn’t take me long before I started looking at each session as an opportunity to learn instead of an obligation. During my time with Ken, I went from 30.27% body fat to 24.25%. Likewise, I was able to drop from 49.95 pounds of fat to 40.49 pounds while increasing my lean mass from 115.05 to 123.03 pounds. When it comes to your health, you need a personal trainer who will actually listen to your concerns, focus on your goals, and understand how to keep you motivated by celebrating your successes.  I firmly believe that if you are ready for the challenge, Ken is definitely your man!

I’m one of those guys that athletes and coaches would call naturally athletic, which is great when you’re young, but doesn’t mean much when you’re no longer in the game. Having an athletic lifestyle my entire life, I quickly discovered that after 50, you work a lot harder for less results and you’re happy to do it just to still compete.  When I was in college, the personal training craze was just beginning. I liked working out so much that I became one and that was how I put myself through school. After 35 years in the gym, I was bored, lacked desire and lacked inspiration. Thankfully at age 50, I discovered snow skiing. It became my new passion!  I couldn’t get enough of it so much so that I wanted to make sure I was in fighting condition when I was on the slopes. At 51, I joined the Master’s Race Ski Team where we ski 6 days a week, 6 hours per day. I’m naturally competitive and found that my competition had skied their entire lives literally! It was a daunting task to even keep up with them. However, I thought to myself, “they may be better skiers, but I am a natural athlete and I know I can out condition them.”

That’s where Ken came in. I signed up for a few training sessions initially with him and after the first lesson, there was an immediate connection. I knew he could push me to a level I could not push myself to on my own. Ken had passion, desire, and so much knowledge, I was blown away at the breadth and depth of his knowledge.  And since he was a young athlete, I knew he knew what I was looking for. We talked about what my goals were and he put together a plan for us to achieve them. I told him that I wanted to condition myself before ski season and then I’d like to transition into a 50 something year old with a beach body. At this age, you can’t physically compete with the 20 and 30 year olds, but you can definitely make them appreciate an older athlete. Ken gave me the tools to workout at the highest level. Through our explosive calorie burning workouts, he made me stronger, faster, more stable, and most importantly, better than my competition on the slopes. Together, Ken and I were able to cut my already low body fat down from 10% to 6%. He is the best personal trainer I have ever worked with on every level and Ken will definitely whip you into shape!. All it takes is Ken and desire!  Best of luck to everyone who makes the correct decision in choosing him over other personal trainers out there!

The best decision of my life was when I decided to contact Ken! Shortly after meeting him and realizing his depth of knowledge, I decided to begin my personal training program with him. I started at 290 lbs, had sleep apnea, poor eating habits, was fighting depression and had an extreme amount of joint pain in both of my knees due to the amount of weight I was carrying around for years.

I worked with Ken over the course of a year and lost 35 pounds. I became stronger and more confident in myself as well as my journey. However, I knew something was still off with myself. Even with my weight loss and our amazing progress together, Ken and I agreed that I should see a physician concerning my continued weight/problematic knee issues. Around this time, per request of the doctor, I had to unfortunately put our personal training on hold.

I eventually made the decision to go for Bariatric surgery. However, I had a long waiting period before the surgery could commence. During this time, I had reached a whopping 306 pounds. Finally, in April, I had the Gastric Sleeve Surgery and within 10 months of resuming personal training with Ken, I lost 100 pounds. I am now down to almost 200 pounds!

I now feel great, my sleep apnea has gone away and I am able to move around much better! I still have minor joint pain in my knees from years of carrying around so much weight, but Ken and I are working together to correct my muscular imbalances before progressing me to more advanced movements.

Ken has always been a great personal trainer! He takes the time to sit down with his clients and do a proper consultation so that you will have a fitness program specifically designed for you! He is tough when he needs to be, but I am also proud to say he is also a great friend!

My first personal training experience with Ken was when I lost 20 pounds and 14% body fat in 8 months. I was very happy with the results, but old habits resurfaced over time, which resulted in me not keeping myself in shape. Fast forward 5 years later and I decided that I didn’t want to turn 40 years old and be disappointed with how I looked, so I contacted Ken again to get me back into shape.

At 39 years old, I started out round two weighing in at 227 pounds with 23.5% body fat. My original goal was to lose 27 pounds and reduce my body fat to somewhere around 15% or better if possible. I began my sessions with Ken four times a week. We used an app to track my food on a daily basis while keeping my nutrition within a particular calorie/macro count in which he set.

The first couple of months were challenging for me as I was used to drinking alcohol every day and had to cut that out drastically if this was going to work. It also took a couple of weeks to really figure out and fine tune my food so that I could stick to my calorie count while meeting my macro goals as well. Once I got through this, the weight started coming off faster than I expected and the results were amazing!

I met both my weight and body fat goals in only four months losing the 27 pounds I wanted and I also reduced my body fat to 14%. I was so excited with the results; however, I still had another five months until I turned 40 years old, so Ken and I decided together that we would see how much further I could go. By my 40th birthday, I had lost an additional 13 pounds and reduced my body fat another 4%. In total, I lost 40 pounds before my 40th birthday and I am now at 10.6% body fat! I feel better than ever and ended up giving myself the best 40th birthday present I could have ever asked for!

As a personal trainer, Ken continues to be there for me every step of the way! He shows up early for our appointments with a positive attitude and a fresh workout planned for each session. From the nutrition, creative functional training workouts and the overall emotional support, Ken continues to always hold me accountable and has never wavered. His attention to me and my results were very apparent from the beginning and I can truly tell that he cares about each of his clients, their results and their success. Do yourself a favor and make the best decision ever to work with Ken of Konstant Fitness!

On October 11th, I was rushed to the hospital because of severe chest pain. After a few tests, I ended up in the operating room having a 6 1/2 hour quintuple bypass surgery. When I woke up, I was still full of drugs and anesthesia so nothing seemed so painfully bad at that moment. Then I tried to move and realized I couldn’t. My chest was cracked open and a vein was harvested from my leg. The simplest movements were challenging and continued to be for weeks. Upon my arrival home, I weighed myself and freaked. I had lost over 20 lbs. I had no body fat to lose. What I lost was muscle, seemingly every last bit of it. I was a mess. I was depressed, but I had two choices: to lay down and be miserable or get up and start over.

I decided to call Ken and asked if he was up to the challenge of putting me back together. The day I started my personal training on Nov. 30th, (about six weeks after my surgery), my weight was 120 lbs, my biceps measured 10.5″, my forearms were 8”,my chest was 36″, my quads were 12”, and my calves were 11”. The only thing that hadn’t changed was my height of 5’6”.

Ken’s knowledge of the human body, his patience, and his willingness to alter every exercise to my specific physical challenges has made all the difference in my recovery both physically and psychologically. A clean high calorie, high protein diet, constant support/encouragement of my personal trainer and a lot of hard work has given me my body and confidence back! By June, I gained 22.5 Lbs, my biceps measured 13.5”, my forearms were 11”, my chest was 39”, my quads were 18.75″, and my calves were 13.5”. A great achievement! As of today, I still eat a clean diet and work out regularly and have maintained a regular, yet not obsessive exercise plan. I feel and look better than ever thanks to all the help from Ken!
